Tuition and aid
Tuition and financial aid.
- Boarding tuition
- $77,340 for 2026-27 (boarding)
- Day tuition
- $59,460 for 2026-27 (day)
- Other fees
- Other 2026-27 fees: a Technology Fee of $1,005, a Health Center Fee of $665 for boarding students and $320 for day students, and an International Student Fee of $1,140 for students who need a Form I-20. Tuition refund insurance is optional.
- Extra costs
- Books, art supplies and other academic materials usually run $1,200 to $1,600 a year. Students bring a computer, and boarding students need proof of health insurance or enroll in the school plan.
- The aim
- The school says it is committed to enrolling the most outstanding applicants regardless of their ability to pay.
- Aid at Loomis Chaffee
- For 2026-27 the school awarded $14.2 million in financial aid to 33 percent of students. Grants range from $1,000 up to the full cost of tuition, and the average grant covers 80 percent of tuition.
- Aid is limited
- The school notes that financial aid is extremely limited at this time.
- Tell the school you want aid
- Families who want aid must say so on the admission application, or they will not be considered for aid in the admission process.
- How to apply for aid
- New families apply through Clarity by January 31. Tax documents go to Clarity, not to Loomis, and each parent or guardian applies regardless of custodial arrangements.
- Aid deadline
- January 31, 2027
- Aid decisions
- Financial aid decisions arrive with admission decisions on March 10.
- How aid fits admission
- In most cases the school only admits students it can fund through its financial aid budget. Each year a small number of admitted students go on a financial aid waiting list, and a second group is denied admission because aid cannot be provided.
- Applying after you enroll
- If a family enrolls without aid and applies later, it is unlikely the school can meet the need, though it will make every effort to help if circumstances change.
- Renewal
- Families must reapply for aid every year, and the award is adjusted for changes. Current aid recipients reapply by December 1.
- Siblings
- The school considers tuition for all children in tuition-charging schools, excluding graduate school.
- LC Scholars Program
- The LC Scholars Program considers all 9th grade applicants by virtue of applying.
